Bicycle Painter. Mixed Media, Centre Des Arts et Culture, Aix-en-Provence, France, 2007.
With the Bicycle Painter project I began my direct investigation into viewer interaction and participation with art as well as the integration and fusion of new media with more analog art making approaches. The installation was a direct result of my query and investigations into the subject of interactivity in art. In this piece the viewer becomes the user by mounting a bicycle, which is linked to a video activated by the motion of the rider. Through this direct participation with the art the user and artwork create a painting together, which serves as the documentation for the experience, as the viewer is able to take home his/her painting.
